CALL FOR PAPERS

Abstracts for papers and posters regarding theory and research in second language acquisition, including interdisciplinary approaches to second language acquisition are invited.

Please choose one submission format:
Paper Presentations: 30 minutes long with a 10-minute discussion period
Poster Presentations: to be displayed for a 3-hour block of time; they are intended as a format for reports of work in progress

E-mail submissions are strongly urged and must adhere to the following format. Send submissions to slrf2002@oise.utoronto.ca

I.          In the subject heading of the e-mail message please type “Poster Submission” OR “Paper Submission”.

II.          In the body of the e-mail message, please fill all of the following fields in the given order (you may want to copy and paste this into your e-mail):

1.       TITLE OF PRESENTATION (Maximum ten words)

2. PRESENTER’S NAME (FAMILY, GIVEN)
DEPARTMENT & AFFILIATION
MAILING ADDRESS (Incl. CITY, STATE/PROV., ZIP/POSTAL CODE)
COUNTRY
PHONE
E-MAIL ADDRESS
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE BEST STUDENT ABSTRACT AWARD? (Y/N)
(Repeat the above fields for any Co-Presenters)

3.       GENERAL RESEARCH AREA OF PRESENTATION (any that apply):
Bilingualism, child SLA, classroom, cognitive approaches, lexicon/vocabulary, morphology, multilingualism, oral discourse, phonology/phonetics, pragmatics, reading, research methodology, sociocultural approaches, sociolinguistic approaches, syntax, technology, testing, written discourse, UG and OTHER

4.       SUMMARY OF THE PRESENTATION no longer than 50 words.  This will be included in the program booklet if your paper is accepted.

III.          As an attachment, please include an ABSTRACT OF THE PRESENTATION.  The attachment must be either a Microsoft Word document or in Rich Text Format (RTF) and include any special fonts (e.g. IPA) you have used. Please do not exceed 400 words in length. Please also ensure that the title of the paper or poster appears as the first line of the document. However, do not include the author(s)' name(s) or other obvious reference to the author(s) in the document as these abstracts will be distributed for blind review.

Please refer to our abstract criteria for more information on the review process.  

Deadline for Abstracts:March 1st 2002.

For mailed submssions, please send a floppy disk with sections (I) and (II) in one file and section (III) in another file. Both should be in either Microsoft Word or RTF format. Hard Copy submissions are also accepted and must include four copies of the abstract and one copy of sections (I) and (II). Submssions must be postmarked no later than March 1st 2002, and sent to the following address.
